Alexey, 54 years old, a private entrepreneur, married with two daughters, lives with his family. He is interested in sports and fishing. He has faced the problem of alcohol dependence for the past 15 years. Over the past year, alcohol consumption has become almost daily, with several short periods of sobriety. During this time, conflicts with his wife became more frequent, his business was not successful and almost went bankrupt if not for the help of his brother and wife, most of his friends stopped communicating and inviting him to events because of Oleksiy’s inappropriate behavior, and he gradually lost interest in his hobbies. The man complained of insomnia, anxiety for a long time, panic attacks, limb tremors and an irresistible urge to drink alcohol, and for the last two nights he had visual hallucinations of “outdoor cats sitting on his bed and on his chest,” which caused him anxiety and fears.
He came to the medical center in a serious condition and was hospitalized with alcoholic delirium. We started medication and active detoxification. Against the background of intensive treatment, the patient’s condition gradually improved.
In order to increase the effectiveness of treatment of alcohol dependence, Oleksiy decided to undergo medication treatment with the help of coding (alco-blockade) – “binding” for alcoholism. This technique was carried out in a medical center, after examination and consultation with a narcologist. This procedure proves to be effective as it creates negative associations with alcohol consumption, which acts as an additional incentive for the patient to maintain a sober life.
This method proved to be successful in helping him overcome his alcohol problems.
Oleksiy has been in remission for 1.5 years. During this time, he has managed to establish a business, a relationship with his wife, and return to his favorite activities. Oleksiy diligently follows all of his doctor’s recommendations, continues to see a psychologist, and is actively engaged in the recovery process. His determination and the support of his family played a key role in getting him on the path to sobriety.
We remain confident that his story will inspire and help others to seek the path to recovery.
