Nowadays, alcohol addiction is a fairly common disease. There are a large number of ways to fight drinking. They demonstrate varying degrees of effectiveness, depending on the severity of the disease, as well as the physiological and psychological state of the patient. One of the most effective methods of alcohol addiction treatment is considered to be Dovzhenko coding, otherwise known as emotional-stress treatment.
This method of coding is based on the application of certain individual psychotechniques that impact directly on the subconscious of the patient. During the session, the specialist-drug addict reproduces certain phrases creating unconscious and persistent indifference or even complete aversion to any alcohol-containing drink. The main and most humane difference of this treatment method is considered to be the complete absence of the gag reflex and severe clinical conditions requiring immediate placement of the patient into an inpatient facility.
Drunkenness treatment according to the Dovzhenko method is painless and does not cause any damage to either the mental or the physical condition of the patient. Other advantages of this type of exposure include:
- The rapidity of the procedure, which can last from one to several hours;
- The possibility of conducting both individual and group therapy;
- Carrying out the treatment on an outpatient basis, which saves a considerable amount of money;
- Therapy without disrupting the patient’s daily activities, including work;
- Minor immersion into a hypnotic sleep, in which the patient does not lose touch with reality and is consciously exposed;
- Long-term effect of the treatment, which is carried out without the use of medicines;
- The possibility of complex use in combination with other therapies;
- The therapy is conducted anonymously, which has a positive effect on the person’s general psychological state as well as on his/her character;
- Good feeling of the patient during the procedure and the absence of negative manifestations at the end.
However, it is worth noting that the Dovzhenko method, the reviews of which, for the most part, are positive, does not always achieve the expected result. When a patient has been alcoholic for a long time and, as a consequence, has completely lost his human consciousness and appearance, the use of this method is inexpedient.
